I had this kinda story going on in my head as I painted it, that the lonely princess had been waiting for the return of her betrothed, but he had died in a storm
Stricken with grief she refused to believe the news, and instead spent day after day watching from her window for a sign of his ship... until eventually she became frozen in time, the castle destroyed, cobwebs gathering at her feet...
